For many years the staff and volunteers leading the community-based
restoration events at Upper Newport Bay have had to put in several
hours of extra work before and after each event to take all the
hand-tools and other equipment from storage and load them into the
back of a stake-bed to transport to site, and reverse the process to
return them to storage. Now, thanks to a generous grant from State
Street, we have mobile storage.
State Street's $10,000 grant funded the purchase of the trailer,
the installation of an electric jack for the hitch, a custom fitting
of the interior to hold the tools and equipment (with labor donated
by contractor and Naturalist Bob Oberlin), a stunning vinyl exterior
promoting the UNB restoration program and partners, and new tools to
complement what is already in use.
