The Bayview area of the Upper Newport Bay Ecological Reserve and Nature Preserve stretches across the north end of the Bay, eastwards from Jamboree. See map.

Currently there are several small-scale restoration projects taking place, primarily involving erosion control, removal of invasive plants such as mustard and iceplant, and planting of native species. Much of this work is done through the ROOTS community restoration program.
