Plant: Grass perennial with creeping, 'wiry' stolens, mat-like, to 6 inches tall.
Flowers: Short inconspicuous spikelets near tips of short erect branches, generally concealed by leaves. 
Leaf: Clustered at nodes, pointed.
Flowering period:   May to June
