Dodder (Cuscuta salina)
| Plant: Colorfully abundant in Coastal Sage, often forming dense,
colorful, tangled masses. The absence of any green shows a true parasite.
Dodder species are parasitic on Pickleweed, Sage, Buckwheat, Deerweed and
Goldenbush. |

| Bud and Stem : The leafless Dodder plants have slender, thread-like
waxy, orange stems which coil about and get their energy from the host
plant. |
