ROOTS Events: 4th Saturday of each
month (2nd Saturday in November and December); Steward
Days (every Wednesday 9-11am); school programs on weekdays as
necessary; other events on weekends as necessary.

Qualifications Needed:
|
10-week Naturalist Training or UCCE Master
Gardener.
Be consistently available for programs. Enjoy
working with people. Willingness to learn and utilize new
skills/tasks.

Training Given:

2-part training each calendar year
(fall/spring) with Restoration Education Coordinator

Job Description:
|
Position requires attendance at ROOTS Events to
lead other volunteers in restoration activities and educate them
about human and natural history of Upper Newport Bay. Specific
skills include installing a plant correctly, native and invasive
plant identification, and group management, including volunteer
safety. Program
preparation and cleanup are also part of the duties of a
Restoration-Education Leader. Other opportunities include helping
school groups during restoration events, representing the program at
conferences or festivals, and leading the restoration site
monitoring effort.

Job Expectations:
|
At a minimum, make a commitment to lead
volunteers at 8 out of 12 ROOTS Event each year.
