Days/Times:

Saturday mornings and evenings for Marine Life Inventory and Marsh Prowl respectively, midweek for Audubon Bird Counts and other special outings.

Qualifications Needed:

Basic boating (or canoeing/kayaking) skills.

Ability to interact with the public.

Training Given:

Initial 3-hour training for 1-4 people. Thereafter one-on-one training as trainee practices the various boating skills under the direction of the trainer. Training will include basic water safety rules and regulations, boat handling, etc.

Job Description:

The Boat Skipper is responsible for:

  • Inspection and check-off before casting off
  • Safety underway
  • Flushing and cleaning once docked again.

 

Job Expectations:

A commitment to skipper roughly once a month (more in the summer and less is winter).
