Several people will eventually be needed to provide a live person on the phone each day to answer questions about the Bay and the programs offered, and perform publicity and public relations tasks/projects. This would be a good internship opportunity.

Good people skills, enthusiastic personality and a desire to learn.

Training Given:

One-on-one training will be given on each of the task assigned.

Reference Materials:

A comprehensive Bay Help Manual is currently being prepared to guide you in responding to questions, requests, etc. (Let us know if you want to assist with it.)

Detailed written instructions for each of the tasks assigned.

Job Description:

The job will involve interaction with the public calling to seek information on the Bay, events, etc. Additionally mini-projects and ongoing tasks will be assigned to each assistant that will provide a broad exposure to various aspects of marketing, public relations and publicity. These could include:

·  Maintaining media lists.

·  Maintaining other lists such as local concierges.

·  Submitting calendar entries to newspapers and magazines.

·  Writing press announcements.

·  Creating other publicity materials.

·  Distributing posters and flyers.

Assignments will be tailored to the extent possible to the interests and talents of each individual Public Relations Assistant. Depending on the time commitment the person can make and other factors, larger project assignments may be made as listed under the Creative Writer, Graphics Artist, Web Developer, Public Relations Specialist, etc. See separate listings.  

Job Expectations:

Make a commitment to spend 3 hours per week for six months (or one semester) working in the NBNF offices at the Back Bay Science Center.
