Outreach Docents make presentations to schools, community groups, etc. about the Bay, its wildlife and its ecology. If you are a full Naturalist and have a group in mind to give a presentation too, let Rita know.

Qualifications Needed:

10-week Naturalist Training
At least two solo tours as a tour/program leader/docent.

Training Given:

No specific training given. Those acting as Outreach Docents are expected to be experienced tour/program leaders/docents.

Job Description:

Outreach Docents educate the public about the Bay, its wildlife and its ecology in a setting that requires an experienced Naturalist to give the presentation.

Outreach Docents may either arrange to give presentations to groups they know, or fill requests received by Rita. In either case the docent will work with the group to decide what the purpose of the presentation is, what form the presentation should take (PowerPoint, slide, show-and-tell, etc.), what materials will be needed, etc.

We have a variety of outreach materials including PowerPoint presentations on CDs.

Job Expectations:

No special commitment required.
