Bay Ambassadors interact with the public in a
friendly non-confrontational way. They greet people they meet and
talk enthusiastically about the Bay. Where appropriate, they
politely let them know about Do’s and Don’ts and the reasons for
them.
Bay Ambassadors are needed primarily to staff
with two people an outreach table at Big Canyon parking lot every
Saturday for a couple of hours. Chat with and give out literature to
hikers, bikers, etc who stop by. Talk enthusiastically about the
Bay. Don’t be concerned about not knowing the answers to all the
questions. You are not there as a docent or tour leader. Just be
enthusiastic about the Bay.
Bay Ambassadors are also needed to assist with
outreach events such as the Orange County Fair and the Children’s
Water Festival where Associate One-Day Training coupled with
event-specific instructions is sufficient. See “Outreach Docent”
page for outreach activities needing full Naturalists.
Bay Ambassadors are also needed to provide a
presence around the Bay and on the water. They interact with the
public in a friendly non-confrontational way. They greet people they
meet and talk enthusiastically about the Bay. Where appropriate,
they politely let them know about Do’s and Don’ts and the
reasons for them. Ideal for Naturalists who bike or hike or kayak
here anyway and who do not mind wearing their vests and interacting
with the public when out and about.
